Associate - Development & Construction

The team member in this position is responsible for collaborating with internal and external teams to manage the oversight, coordination, and successful completion of small to large, complex real estate projects. Associate must be able to support team leader on multiple client investments and major capital projects. A key requirement is identifying and assessing risks during underwriting and planning.

Associate must have an awareness of the types of risks encountered on different development and construction [renovation/ repositioning] projects. Evaluation of joint venture operating partners and external teams of consultants and contractors are critical to ensure client investment resources are allocated appropriately. Team member will oversee aspects of projects from initiation to closeout, which could include the setting of deadlines, assigning of responsibilities, and monitoring/ reporting on progress. Associate must have a service mindset with the ability to influence and lead without authority. Associate will perform duties with a focus on client satisfaction and team success.

This role requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as it involves working with external and internal teams to complete developments and major renovation projects on time and under budget. You will work on a variety of projects, across multiple asset types, utilizing innovative technologies and software. You will be required to prioritize and execute effectively, working independently as well as on external teams.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or other related field

  • Strong understanding of quality assurance/ program management principles

  • 0-2 years working on commercial developments, construction, or major capital projects

  • Proven knowledge of budgeting and forecasting

  • Demonstrated ability to execute on these budgeted and forecasted plans

  • Understanding of real estate development cycle from initiation and planning through design and construction across commercial asset types

  • Strong analytical skills
